Harris Health System Feasibility Study

Master Planning | Summer 2024

HHS Feasibility Study

Timeframe | 2 Months

Role | Architectural Designer

Employer | Cannon Design

Client | Harris Health System

I had the chance to dive into the fast-paced world of healthcare master planning through a rapid feasibility study for the Harris Health System. This project was all about exploring possibilities—helping a local hospital envision its future within the constraints of tight site areas and evolving healthcare needs.

The work was dynamic and collaborative. My role involved developing design options that balanced functionality, flexibility, and the unique challenges of the site. I worked closely with cost estimators to ensure our ideas were not only innovative but also financially viable, iterating quickly to meet tight deadlines and client expectations. The project taught me how to communicate ideas clearly through various levels of detail as sketches, diagrams, or presentations, and how to balance ambition with practicality.

While this was a feasibility study and not a built project, it was an exciting experience that highlighted the importance of strategic thinking in design. It wasn’t about creating a final product but about laying the groundwork for what could be—helping the client see potential in their space and prepare for the future.

This project reflects my ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment. It’s a reminder that good design isn’t always about the finished product; sometimes, it’s about asking the right questions, exploring options, and setting the stage for what’s to come.
